Becoming Pfertsh Photography.
My love for Photography came when I was in middle school. I was about 13 when I received my very first point and shoot camera. Of course I had used the typical cheap disposable cameras you can buy from the store and take to have developed while hoping you captured at least a few good shots but, this point and shoot camera was special. It began my journey of actually looking for that particular shot that captured the beauty of something. This camera had opened a whole new ball park for me that I’d never imagine would bring me to the point I am now!
Well the journey continued. I progressed on to high school taking my camera with of course, capturing the moments that I will forever treasure with past friends. During high school is when I started really chasing those dreamy Colorado sunset/sunrise shots. It didn’t end there though, I began the hunt for my nature shooting. Capturing those iconic trees, the water glistening on the ever still creeks, the sun sneaking on the edges of the mountains. Truly seeking those beautiful shots that take your breath away! Come the end of my sophomore year though, I put the camera down and started my love affair in a different field. For the rest of my high school career I didn’t touch my camera hardly. At that point my dream had vanished as I sought out a different passion for Forensic Science. It wasn’t until senior year, when I had to make the “life changing” decisions about what I wanted to do with my life that I really thought about picking up a camera again.
Graduation snuck up and I had always wanted a REAL camera, to my surprise that REAL camera I wanted happened to be one of my graduation presents! Best present ever by the way! Still graduation didn’t put me back into my grove with photography though. I snapped pictures here and there but didn’t really get swinging again until about mid 2015 when an old friend and I reconnected. By this point I was a new mom to a wonderful 6 month old baby girl trying to keep myself busy, instead of going stir crazy adjusting to the stay at home mom life.
Upon discussing it with my amazing side kick/ husband I had decided that I wanted to once again tackle the dream to become a photographer! Now as I mentioned previously, I had just reconnected with an old friend who had agreed to let me do some practice shots of her. I had never done anything with people before other than my daughter so this was a challenge for me. I did the shoot started editing and then it hit me, if I was truly going to chase this I had to had a name for my photography! I wanted to have something original, something me, something that no one else could ever restyle as their own, but what? At that point I was stumped. What could be that original, that could only be mine. Then just like a sack of rocks it hit me! Pfertsh Photography! Now Pfertsh is my Maiden name, a name that is very original all in its own and very unlikely to be stolen (without being married into it of course!). What better way to represent my photography than with my very unique maiden name for a very unique photography journey!
Now if your still with me in this, I would like to offer you the chance to help me in this journey as I continue to grow and capture those special moments that last a life time! Memories are forever, so let’s capture them together! For more information please reach out to me and we will set the journey to capture the memories closest to you!
